Trip to Chennai

Chennai (earlier known as Madras) is located on the South East Coast of India. It is the capital of the State of Tamil Nadu. As a coastal city Chennai is low-lying, its highest point touching 60 meters above sea level. Chennai has a few rivers crisscrossing the city and its biggest attraction is a 12 km long beach along the shoreline called Marina Beach. Flights to Chennai can be booked online from all over the world, the city has an interesting culture and offers the tourist plenty to do and see.
The River Advar in Chennai offers a natural habitat for many species of animals and birds with its protected estuary. Chennai’s Chembarambakkam Lake supplies the city with drinking water. Sandy soil is found in many areas of Chennai (San Thomes, George Town, Kottivakkam, Adyar etc.) so when the city experiences heavy rainfall the rainwater is quickly drained away. Other areas in Chennai (Guindy, Velachery, Perungudi and Adambakkam) have hard rock. Due to its long beach stretch of 12 kms, Chennai attracts plenty of beach enthusiasts. Marina Beach, Covelong Beach and VGP Golden Beach are great tourist attractions. Chennai also has some famous South Indian Temples such as the Kapaleswar Temple and Sri Parthasarathy Temple, which are worth a visit. Other places of interest would include the Museums, monuments, Churches and Basilicas and Parks. Fort St. George, the National Gallery, and Government Museum are some of the well known tourist attractions. While there are some cultural events like the Madras Music Season in which hundreds of artists take part and which takes place in December, and two good amusement parks - Chennai’s night life is otherwise rather subdued. Chennai’s expatriate population is the third largest in India (after Delhi and Mumbai). To enjoy the diverse sights in Chennai checking out flights to Chennai and making a firm booking will make it happen.
Chennai’s industrial scene covers automobiles, hardware manufacturing and computer technology. In 2012 Chennai was the second largest information technology exporter, and business process outsourcing services. Many of India’s big automobile industries are based in Chennai which has become to be known as the Detroit of India. Other arts important in Chennai are Carnatic music, the Tamil Film industry and the classical dance form of Bharata Natyam. Pure silk sarees are a popular buy in Chennai - they are available in all qualities and designs. If all things South Indian has an appeal for you, definitely it is worth looking at flights to Chennai so that you can experience the warmth and hospitality of the city.
